Fuels Tax Analyst - Accounting Technician 3

ODOT is recruiting for a fuels tax analyst with the fuels tax group in scenic Salem. This position completes desk reviews detailing adjustments, calculating any additional charges or credits, and prepares desk review reports. + The goal of this recruitment is to fill this position at an accounting technician 3 level. However, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for an accounting technician 2 ($2647 - $3761 monthly) to apply, as we may consider under-filling the position until the selected candidate meets the minimum qualifications for an accounting technician 3. Under-fill training will not exceed three years.

+ This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU/OPEU).

Duties & Responsibilities

+ Prepare and analyze fuels tax licensee files.

+ Perform desk reviews of reported tax against documentation to determine accuracy.

+ Prepare adjustment schedules.

+ Use the Oregon Fuels Tax System to match fuel dealer sales.

+ Prepare and organize tax reports.

+ Assist the public in understanding the Fuels Tax Law.

Working Conditions

+ Lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.

+ Reaching, gripping with hands and fingers.

+ Extensive use of personal computers, including keyboard and mouse.

Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills

Accounting Technician 3 minimum qualifications

+ Three (3) years of technical support accounting experience. Two (2) years of the experience must include a) coding transactions and checking them for propriety, b) balancing, and c) resolving discrepancies in computer edits; OR

+ At least 90 quarter (60 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational technical school that includes 12 quarter (9 semester) hours in accounting.

+ Training or experience must include using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information.

Accounting Technician 2 minimum qualifications (Under-Fill Option)

+ Two years of technical support accounting experience. One year of the experience must include the calculation, recording, and maintenance of routine accounting information; OR

+ At least 36 quarter (24 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 9 quarter (6 semester) hours in accounting.

+ Training or experience must include using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information.

To receive credit for required courses, submit a photocopy of transcripts.
