For more information about the Blue Mountain Management Unit (Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area) click here What you will do: The Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area Park Ranger 3 position is responsible to conduct a specific, major program or facility at the management unit, park district or region level with a high degree of independence and technical expertise in specialized park skills (e.g.: resource interpretation, cultural and natural resource restoration, complex utility operations or maintenance programs, park rule enforcement, visitor services, etc.). The person in this position will coordinate activities across management unit boundaries and will mentor permanent and seasonal employees throughout the park region in specialized skills related to the maintenance and operations of OPRD programs and properties. For a list of specific duties, working conditions and responsibilities, click here Additional Position Requirements: + Have a criminal history background check that meets OPRD criteria at the time of hire and throughout employment. + Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of hire and throughout employment with a driving record that meets OPRD standards. + Must wear OPRD supplied uniform and comply with appearance code while on duty. + Must comply with and adhere to applicable federal, state, local, and agency rules, laws, standards and policies. + Obtain and maintain one or more of the following after appointment, as applicable or required to perform duties of the position: + First Aid/CPR Certification + OPRD Enforcement Officer Status + OPRD Cultural Resource Training + Volunteer Services Leader Training Park Ranger 3 Minimum Qualifications: + Five years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping). OR + A Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies and 2 years of visitor services experience (e.g., rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping). OR + An Associate's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management or Environmental Studies and 3.5 years of visitor services experience (e.g., rule enforcement; interpretation such as education and environmental awareness programs; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping). Desired Attributes + Experience in park and facility operations and maintenance and/or natural resource land management. + Strong and positive interpersonal skills for community outreach, leading volunteers and leading individuals. "Verbal judo" or similar tactical communications method for assisting upset customers. + Excellent written communication skills including preparing written reports, proposals and project plans. + Experience in planning and organizing equipment, materials and staff/volunteers to accomplish work such as trail building, construction projects and landscaping. + Adjust to shifting priorities and emerging issues while managing time and multiple projects. + Positive approach to finding solutions/problem solving skills. + Ability to work independently and lead others with minimum direct supervision.
